YOU GO FUN .....

Today I received an email from Joyce, http://www.yougofun.com. In fact this is the first time a crew from a Chinese based website came to see us!!! Oh dear ... anyway, here is their links on our humble hotel .... and a quote from Dylan, their presenter!!! Please pardon my POOR CANTONESE.... cause I don't speak much Chinese!! ARGH!! Embarrassing only!!

And here is an excerpt of Dylan's comments in Chinese! (You will need Chinese Text installed to be able to view it correctly)

Thank you Dylan and the entire crew of YOUGOFUN and please do support them for they have really some great topics and ideas!!!

Also please support our + BRIDES : QUEST FOR INNER BEAUTY PROJECT!!! Its an extremely rare opportunity!!!

FABRIQUE

Tiger Lily in an alternate world

Weddings, weddings, weddings ...... I have seen so many Pre Wedding photography here until I am pretty confident that I can tell you what is all about ...... but unbeknown to many, we too have had a lot of model shoots as The Heritage Station Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. I mean, why does pre wedding photos have to be typically traditional? Well, I know the answer to that question as well as my wife also wants to take our pre wedding pictures focusing more on the traditional gown ...... but, but, can there be an alternative to just the traditional white/ivory wedding gown?

Here I give you FABRIQUE, by Calvin Cheong, who came to The Heritage Station Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, when we first started out on our Photography Project. Calvin and his buddies just walked in at a time when we didn't even have application forms .... fuyoh, that was a long time ago, if you ask me .... Unfortunately, I was a little *blur* *blur* about "who was who" and "what was what" at that time. In fact, as a hotelier, I normally do not meet such magnanimous and gregarious people from other industries. I am thankful to be working here as I have met so many different people from all walks of life .... its like a breath of fresh air for me. Anyway, I give you photos from FABRIQUE .....

I really like this set of photos.... it's just so refreshing and nice .... something different from the usual Pre Wedding that we are so accustomed to .... In actual fact, if you like the pictures, Calvin Cheong will be featured in FEMALE MAGAZINE's upcoming BRIDAL issue, slated for June 2009! Watch out for it! For more information on FABRIQUE, please click here. Oh yeah, FABRIQUE has a very interesting website too!!!

STEVEN & EMILY

You know, I am actually fond of this guy .... why so? Well, if you follow my blog, you will know that I normally have some exchanges with one of the photographers who used to come here pretty often from a Bridal House. I am fond of him because I have seen his works grow .... and grow he did, and I do hope his new venture will only serve to make him better ..... I really like his style of photography (I like many others too! But not telling!!!). Who is this guy I am talking about? Well, he is a nice, bubbly chap, but as I don't speak much Chinese, at times I kinda feel it hard to communicate with him ... but we always end up playing with each other, exchanging friendly banters ..... Guys and Gals, please welcome into the foray of freelance wedding photographers, Mr. ADAM ONG.

What I am going to post here is a tribute to knowing Adam and these will be one of the last batch of photos at The Heritage Station Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, I guess, as Adam is now travelling to many other places, taking all types of pictures. As such, despite my extremely busy schedule, I will take the time to write one of weird haikus, once again, in tribute to Adam as I have seen his work evolve ... and what a beautiful thing that was .....

DARK
(a haiku-ish prose by The Hotel Station Master)

A seed, planted,
Without love, without care,
Dark and dank,
I huddle in search of warmth.

Appear, from the earth,
With painted colours, so vibrant,
I alone, withstand,
The trials and tribulations of nature.

The wind blows,
And you came, without care,
To ridicule and badger me,
My heart cries in the dark.

With your slightest touch,
I realize how wrong was I,
The warmth of your hand,
Brings hope to my world.

It's dark and warm, odd,
For in darkness I find my solace,
In your voice and tone,
Share with me your everything.

I feel your every move,
I take in your every breath,
I softly outline your every detail,
Nourished to flourish.

I spread my wings,
My heartbeat flutters,
Your warmth in the dark,
Is like no other in this world.

Fly! Fly! Flying,
It's dark but I see,
The different shades of black,
Crescendo after crescendo.

How I long to be,
It's warm and so cosy,
You bring life back to me,
in my darkness, you and me.

The couple Steven and Emily from what I gather is from the United Kingdom and The Team from The Heritage Station Hotel offers you our heartiest congratulations on your wedding. Adam has said that this his shots this time around were of a "concept shoot" in nature, but it just looks so good! Anyway, once again, CONGRATULATIONS to both Steven, Emily and Adam, for a great set of pictures!!! If you would like to see Adam's other works, please click here.

PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND

There are a lot of things I understand. There are also a lot of things I don't understand. So I hope someone can help me understand the nature of things in this world. Let me list down one thing that I don't understand;

You know, to organize this event with all our partners giving it all; Pretty In White sponsoring gowns, Mr. John W. Ishii giving his time to teach amidst his busy schedule, FotoKrazy.com helping us with all logistics for the Penang and Ipoh Trip, Malaysia Brides.com for supporting us with official forum space, Tommy and I putting everything together in the background, I still cannot understand. Normally an event like this, one would, and should, charge at least a few hundred ringgit, but NO, we do it for RM25.00. We put in our own money, time and energy. We spell out our terms and conditions CLEARLY. And yet, and YET, AND YET, why do some people treat us like we are just, oh, "another RM25.00 function, it's nothing lar". Like Scrooge said in - A Christmas Carol; "Bah! Humbug!". Well then, I would like to see anyone get into a photographic workshop with one of the "Renowned Malaysian Photographers" and see if you can enroll yourself for a RM25.00 Workshop. Bah! Humbug! Again, people are so discourteous. I still cannot understand. No call, no sms, no email .... NO NOTHING AGAIN!!! AARRGGHH!!!

The Return Of The Laughing Man ..... Again!
Why are people so discourteous?

Please someone explain to me why we should bother continuing with our prewedding community project when we give it our all and yet some people treat us like this .... *sigh*......

CALLING CALLING!!!!

Hello? Anyone there? Its been sometime since I updated this blog, but as you can see, I have been so busy with changing servers and fiddling with CSS, HTML, XML, JS, FLASH, etc ... and I am no web page designer.... Ha ha ha ... ar well, I learnt something along the way, which I doubt would be of any use to me as a Hotelier .... ha ha ha.... anyway, we have redirected our blog to http://blog.prewedding.info and 70% of the site is done (Graphically that is). Now comes the hard part about META, SITE-MAPS, ROBOTS and other nitty gritty .... Also my feeds are giving me issues as well ... *sigh* ... more reading for me to do ..... ha ha ha .... That's what you get when you change Name Servers ... I should have just pointed the A Records .... (found that out a little too late!). I also would love to work with an integrated suite of software as opposed to my current standalone...... but I still need to understand how tables and frames work! SIMON & RACHEL

I'm in 'La La Land' after taking cough syrup this morning on an empty stomach. Been sick, frustrated and demotivated cause small hotels like us always don't measure up to the guests expectations. What's wrong with @THSH? I know that the building is old and needs an uplift, but its tough running this place with all the legalities, manpower constraints and financial restrictions. Many people assume that it's a walk in the park ... well let me tell you, its not, and it 's no stroll by the beach either way .... Problem is, there is rumours in the hotelier circles that big corporations are eyeing us for a takeover (since years ago, but I'm only 6 months old here!) ... I feel it's sad cause then @THSH will most probably become a boutique luxury hotel and I will have to say 'Bye Bye' to all you beautiful brides and grooms out there....... so much for believing that @THSH should remain as a community-ish model of sorts with events on the side ....

And then came Adam. Adam again? Yup, just plain ol' Adam! Not the Adam you are thinking about I bet, but Adam Ong ... the most consistent photographer from Touch that comes to my place for a photo shoot. The one who gave me a wrong blog address the last time. You remember him? Bet not. Well, to be honest, I have been poisoning Adam to try and take new angles and poses for Pre Wedding Photos here @THSH, cause if you can remember, I said that most of the shoots by Bridal Houses in Malaysia are very similar, due to time and budget constraints. What I really like about Adam is that he is always very bubbly and loves to exchange a few banters with me.... Appreciate that. So, whats the result? Be the judge of that yourself!

ME & YOU (A duet/dialogue)
Another 'haiku-ish' free form by Hotel Station Master

leaning on the wall
eyes wander towards yonder
frustrations inside

leaning on the wall
hearts a flutter with doubt
where can you be, dear

lift your spirits,love
for I am here, awaiting
go, tunnel of life

lift your spirits, love
for I await you, wanting
forever with you

I cannot fathom
why you'll want me, forever
for confused am I

I cannot fathom
why you'll stay with me, forever
doubts blur my heart

have courage my love
a pillar for you, to lean
throughout confusion

have courage my love
a beacon of light, I give
to clear your doubts

man are blind, my dear
committing and providing
material wealth

man are blind, my dear
they give up easily, for gain
forgetting themselves

look to the stars, love
neither commitments matter
but your guidance, seek

look to the stars, love
neither wealth or gain I seek
but the warmth of love

shelter me now, dear
as I embrace you, together
your strength in silence

shelter me now, dear
I was foolish, doubting you
longing your comfort

through the Storm, love
you and me, together, us
our love now stronger

through the storm, love
undying flame of passion
ignites a new beginning

Me & You

-end-

First and foremost, @THSH would like to Congratulate Simon and Rachel on their nuptials. May you be blessed with loads of health, wealth and prosperity! I must have met them in passing but always too busy 'arguing' with Adam .... ha ha ha. Ar well. Anyway, eh, Adam, how come you make your series like 'sepia' like that ar? Want to capture the rustic feel is it? Later people complain @THSH look like haunted house again. (Argh!). Also, this haiku-ish poem was written in my 'La La Land' mood .. so apologies if it looks weird, must be like writing a poem when you are on LSD, CRACK or DOPE in general ..... ar well. If you would like to view more works from Adam Ong, please view here. (Adam, can you change your play list on your blog? Or no time is it?)

FRUSTRATIONS & EXCITEMENT!

You know, ever since I opened my doors @THSH for pre wedding, wedding and model photography for free just asking for a copy of the photos and rights to post it on this blog with credit given back to the couple/model and the photographer, I have been getting a lot of response. Thank you to all.

When I meet the photographers, they actually are very nice and agree to almost anything I ask, all for free, but I am getting frustrated. WHY? Well, its very simple. I have to chase and chase and chase them for the photos, and you might even add, some are from reputable places and names. VERY, VERY, DISAPPOINTED. I think I have shown enough kindness and respect to all of them who have come here. Ar well ... maybe I should just CLOSE my doors to ALL then ... then I would not have such disappointments .... hurm, food for thought.

Where the h*ll are my photos that were promised to me???

Now on to the EXCITING NEWS!!! The Team from the original Pre Wedding Community project is now PLANNING A FULL SCALE ROAD TRIP!

We will be heading to the northern region at 2 Places ..... PENANG & IPOH to launch our community projects .... so now we are on the Hunt for 3 + 3 = 6 Couples, who are interested to participate in our event. We will give preference, to couples from the Northern Region for this project because we are going north!!! How are we going to pull it off? Ha ha ha ... you'll have to wait and see .... so please send us all your interest soon!!!

EVERYONE IS AT HOME ... EXCEPT ME

My wife is enjoying her alternate Saturday off .... I am still in the office and its 1.17 pm as I am writing this blog..... just came back from Pretty In White with the couples gowns ... now waiting for a friend from another hotel to lend me their LCD Projector for tomorrow, had to literally beg people to lend me stuff .... *sigh*. So much for being a No frills, Budget Hotel ... ha ha ha .... what did I get myself into again????

My small office and equipment that
is used to run events @THSH/blog.
Simple and truely, simple.
In the background,
you can see the wedding gowns from

Pretty In White!

My gastric has been acting up the whole week as I guess, I am too anxious about this event. But really, I am really looking forward to this ... in my years as a Hotelier, I have not really handled such an event ... I have handled loads of wedding functions, but a photographic pre wedding session I have not, so I am really curious. I am even more curious at how all the photos will turn out. I hope our 15 participants do not let us down ... ha ha ha ... let me give you a little subtle pressuring guys and gals .... Oh, did I mention that Mr. John W. Ishii will be taking some photos of the couples???? No???? Ha ha ha .... well you can drool all you want, brides to be!

PHOTOGRAPHERS CONFIRMED!

(Sound of old typewriter in the background, Mission Impossible style ....)

Date : 4 August 2008, Monday.
Time : Late in the evening.
Venue : Dark, Musty Alley with a street light flashing overhead.

I look over my shoulder, making sure no one suspicious is lurking around. Keeping in the shadows with my trench coat collar overturned, I light up one more time (my nasty habit lar ... do not follow!). Hastily, I bang in the secret codes onto the laptop that was left for me by a complete stranger in a pre-marked garbage dump. "Hello Lloyd," the computer greeted me. "Here is your mission, should you decide to accept it..." Accept it? Aren't I already doing this? "This is your list of persons that have been confirmed by the secret board for your elimination .... As always, should you or any of your partners and sponsors be caught, the secret board will disavow any knowledge of your event. Save it to your thumb drive as this laptop will self destruct in 5 seconds ..." You asking me to blow up my personal ol' faithful notebook? Never!!! Precious ... (drool drool), my pppprreeccciiiooousss ..... (more drool)

Ok ok ... so it never happened that way ... after the confirmed list was emailed to me, I just picked up my mobile and dialed some numbers .... *rrrring, rrrring* (do mobile phones ring these days?? ahem!). Anyhow this is how most of my conversations went .....

"Alo?"
"Can I please speak to Mr. XYZ?"
"Yes? This is he"
"Mr. XYZ, This is Lloyd calling from the Heritage Station Hotel, Kuala Lumpur ..."
"Who?"
"The Heritage Station Hotel Kuala Lumpur????" (getting a little edgy there)
"Yes, what's it regarding?"
"I believe you enrolled for our community photography project for this coming Sunday with Mr. John W. Ishii??? Pre wedding photo shooting???"
"I did??? Can you tell me more about it?"

And I would have expected the 'future participants' to be 'a little more' excited about it .... I have a good mind to just cross out your names from the confirmed list! *Evil laughter with loads of sneering, leering, and hand rubbing!* Ok, now let me formally introduce our confirmed photographer listing, Couples 1, 2 & 3, please meet your photographers. Board of moderators, now you can put a face to a name. World, please meet our selected 15 photographers for our upcoming community event on 10 August 2008.

Mosaic of our Photographers.... Nice don't you think?
(Damned hard to get pics. Full 15 + 1 Japanese Anime Character!)

Erm ... its really hard to ask photographers for a self portrait, in my opinion, I did think it would be easier to ask amateur photographers for their self portrait but then again, I was wrong! Oh dear ..... I was greeted with "oOOoohs" and "aaAAhhsss" when I told them that I would require a self portrait of themselves even though I said they could be as creative as possible .... erm, it didn't quite turn out they way I expected it to be ... actually, this whole event didn't quite turn out the way I thought it would, according to my original plan! You can ask my partner in crime, Tommy (right Tommy?). We actually wanted something simpler to start with .... ha ha ha .. so much for that. Perhaps I will get itchy enough to run a poll of sorts asking "Do photographers hate taking images of themselves?". Hurm .... Food for thought ....

Anyway, on behalf of The Heritage Station Hotel Kuala Lumpur (@THSH in case you have forgotten) and our partners, congratulations to our photographers for being selected for this first community event. I am sincerely hoping that this won't be our last cause it's really tiring doing all this organizing and putting stuff together .... ha ha ha ... We will look forward to seeing you in person on 10 August 2008, BRIGHT AND EARLY!
